These are the first images showing the aftermath in Borough Market after police shot dead terrorists Khuram Butt, Rachid Redouane and Youseff Zaghba.

Glasses lay scattered, chairs and tables overturned and people’s belongings strewn across the floor along Stoney Street, where the trio went on a murderous rampage before being gunned down near the Wheatsheaf pub.

The image was taken from onboard a number 21 bus passing the scene on Wednesday as passengers gasped at the sight.

Roads around London Bridge this morning reopened, but the historic market remains cordoned off.

Eight people were killed and at least 48 injured on Saturday night when a white Renault van rammed into pedestrians on London Bridge before three men leapt from the vehicle and stabbed passersby.

Timeline of the terror attacks on London Bridge

Witnesses have described how the ruthless trio "coldly" slashed diners and drinkers in the area's restaurants and pubs, which were full of weekend revellers.

The pictures come after chilling footage showed how the knifemen stalked the grounds where traders normally sell their wares at the popular foodie hotspot, seconds before being shot dead by police.

Shot on a mobile phone, the video captures the moment the trio entered near the Market Porter pub as drinkers took refuge inside.

One of the men can be seen in a blue Arsenal away shirt, another in a dark hoodie, and the third in a striped jumper.

Borough Market, ordinarily a busy lunch and dinner spot, is thought to be as many as a thousand years old.
