Thousands of people flocked to Trafalgar Square to join in with London's Diwali celebrations.
Mayor Sadiq Khan joined crowds of all faithers as Londoners celebrated the 15th year of Diwali at Trafalgar Square today.
The festival of light attracted a huge crowd, with dancers, singing and live entertainment throughout the day.
The ancient festival marks the victory of light over dark and good over evil.
Diwali represents Hindu new Year but is also observed by Sikhs, Jains and Buddhists across the world.
Commenting before making a speech at the festival opening, Mr Khan said: "London is open to all people and all communities – we don’t just tolerate each other’s’ differences, we embrace them.
"Nowhere is this more apparent than in London’s joyous celebration of Diwali in Trafalgar Square.
"Diwali’s central message of peace and mutual respect is one that we can all learn from."
