These fascinating black-and-white photos offer a snapshot of London's cycling heritage.

With the Tour de France - which graced the capital's streets last summer - set to end tomorrow, we look back on more than a century of two-wheeled history.

From the world's smallest bicycle to the huge front wheels of penny farthings, our gallery showcases the weird and the wonderful.

Costumes aside, the scene is a lot like something you might see on Hyde Park's paths in 2015.

Olympic gold medallist Ben Jones, who took first prize for the 5,000 metre cycle race at the 1908 Olympics in White City, acts as a reminder British cycling has been world-class for longer than Chris Froome has winning Tour stages.

Another parallel with cycling in today's capital can be seen in a shot from 1932, in which three riders put to good use the newly opened cycle track between Hanger Lane and Greenford - with not a car in sight.

The final stage of Le Tour concludes tomorrow, with Chris Froome hoping to hang on to the yellow jersey and repeat his 2013 victory.
