Charles Dickens theatre tickets on offer that even young Oliver Twist could afford

“Pauper tickets” are being sold for a play about Charles Dickens’s life with Simon Callow in the starring role.

Priced at £2.50, they are being released to celebrate the bicentenary of the author’s birth.

The tickets to one-man show The Mystery of Charles Dickens are for those aged under 26.

Callow said he hoped to see a wave of fresh faces in the audience and “have them coming back again, like Oliver Twist, asking for more”.

The play is at the Playhouse Theatre in Northumberland Avenue from September 13 to November 3. The tickets will be available from the box office from 10am on the day of the performance, with proof of age.
