The father of murdered toddler James Bulger has said his killer should never be freed again, warning: "You can't rewire evil."

Ralph Bulger, 51, made the statement in reaction to news that child killer Jon Venables, 35, was back in jail for indecent images of children.

Speaking to The Sun, Mr Bulger said: "You can't rewire evil and that is what he is.

"The child abuse offences he has committed over and over as an adult are part of a very frightening build-up to him murdering another child like James... Let him out and he will strike again."

Venables was just 10-years-old when he abducted, tortured and murdered two-year-old James with classmate Robert Thompson on Merseyside in 1993.

They were released in 2001 on life licence with new identities after serving eight years in prison.

His most recent arrest is his second recall, after being arrested in 2010, also for the possession of indecent images.

Despite being released in 2013, he has once again been caught in possession of similar images and placed in an unidentified maximum-security prison.

Venables faces a new police probe and a Parole Board hearing.

James Bulger's mother, Denise Fergus, labelled Venables a "perverted psychopath" earlier this week, after learning of his recent arrest.
