Footage has captured the shocking moment an attacker apparently tries to stab a man through a closed car window in Hackney.
Police said they were called to reports of a fight on Dunsmure Road in Stamford Hill at around 5.30pm on Wednesday - but the motorists involved fled the scene when officers arrived.
In the clip, handed to the Standard, four men are seen arguing in the street by the silver vehicle.
Two appear to leave the scene on foot as the remonstrating continues - before one turns on his heels, runs up to the car and tries to plunge what appears to be a knife through the driver's seat window.
After a short stand-off, watched by stunned members of the public, the vehicle rolls down one of its back windows before beginning to drive off, prompting the man to jab his blade through the gap. He then strikes the driver's window a second time.
The onslaught fails to break the glass, though it appears dented, and the car moves off with its occupants apparently unharmed.
A Scotland Yard spokesman said officers were continuing their enquiries to identify the men involved.
No injuries have been reported and no arrests have been made, he said.
