Two men are in hospital and police have made three arrests following an early hours stabbing in south London.

Scotland Yard said officers were called to reports of an assault on Morden Road, Mitcham, at about 1am on Saturday.

Paramedics attended with police and a man said to be in his 30s was rushed to hospital with facial injuries. He is thought to be in a stable condition.

Two men have been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and remain in custody following the incident.

Ninety minutes later police were alerted after a fourth man, in his 20s, turned up at a west London hospital with non-life-threatening stab injuries.

A Metropolitan Police spokesman said: “At this early stage, we believe he sustained the injuries in the same incident.”

Officers subsequently arrested the other man hospitalised with facial injuries.

He was also held on suspicion of GBH, the spokesman added.
