A thug was today told he faces a life sentence for the murder of a 22-year-old man who he stabbed in the neck over a suspected drug deal.
Turrell Auguste, 19, knifed Gokhan Durmus as the pair fought in Chatham Place, Homerton, in February this year.
Incredibly, Mr Durmus, from Walthamstow, managed to drive himself to nearby Homerton Hospital despite his severe injuries.
He was put on a life support machine before he died of "catastrophic" brain injuries nine days later, the Old Bailey heard.
Jurors were told how Turrell was joined by his brother Mathias as the pair met Mr Durmus and a friend for what is believed to be a pre-arranged drug deal on the evening of February 7.
Turrell got into Mr Durmus' car for about a minute before he and his brother walked away together towards Meeting Field Path.
But they were followed by Mr Durmus and his friend. Moments later a fight broke out which led to Mr Durmus being stabbed in the neck.
The brothers then fled towards their home in nearby Catesby House.
Turrell, of Catesby House on the Frampton Park estate, was today convicted of murder at the Old Bailey.
Mathais, 21, was found not guilty of murder and manslaughter at the same trial.
Detective Inspector Andy Manning, who led the investigation for the Met's Homicide and Major Crime Command, said: "Whatever the reason for the altercation between Auguste and Gokham, this was an totally unnecessary level of violence that has cost a young man his life."
