A 16-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a teenager was set upon by a group of men and stabbed at a bookmakers in Tooting.

The 17-year-old boy was attacked as he entered the betting shop on Mitcham Road.

Police were called to the scene at 8.30pm on March 18 and found the victim suffering from stab wounds.

His injuries are 'potentially life changing' and he remains in a stable condition at a south London hospital, Scotland Yard said on Friday (March 21).

Officers from the Metropolitan Police's Trident unit, which probes alleged gang violence in London, are investigating.

The teenager who has been arrested in connection with the incident is also facing accusations that he caused grievous bodily harm to the victim.
