A man is fighting for life after suffering a head injury in a high street brawl in Surbiton.

The victim, in his 30s, was found by police in Victoria Road, a main shopping district, after reports of a large group of people fighting at 9pm on Monday.

Social media users posted horror images of a pool of blood at the crime scene splattered over discarded first aid equipment.

A 28-year-old man and a 32-year-old man were arrested nearby on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and remain in custody.

A Scotland Yard spokesman confirmed the victim is currently in a critical condition at a south London hospital.
