Rapper and actor Ashley Walters has been fined nearly £1,000 for aiming a foul-mouthed tirade at Hilton Hotel staff in a row over a bill.
The 33-year-old star aimed a string of insults at the front desk staff after he claimed security staff had stopped him re-entering the four-star Islington hotel “because he was black”.
When former So Solid Crew member Walters tried to complain, an argument broke out over his bill — which he claimed had been pre-paid — and he tore up the receipt before storming out.
Zsofia Kuti said Walters told her to “shut the f*** up” and when she appeared visibly shaken by the incident, he added: “You better be shivering you bitch.”
When the hotel’s duty manager, Gaurav Thakur, intervened, Walters told him: “Don’t say a word, I’ll knock you out, don’t interfere.” He then called both staff members “dickheads”.
Walters, who has starred in TV shows Top Boy and cop drama Cuffs, admitted using threatening words and behaviour at a hearing at Blackfriars crown court.
He denied a charge of racially abusing the hotel staff and it was dropped by the prosecution.
Walters, of Islington, had been staying with his wife at the hotel last May to celebrate their anniversary. Judge Henry Blacksell QC ordered him to pay £350 to each victim, and to pay £300 in court costs.
After the hearing, Walters said: “Apologies for causing any problems — it won’t happen again. I’m just glad the racial element was dropped because it didn’t happen.”
