Crime scenes are now in place in one of the hotel rooms and outside the hotel itself.

The victim is being treated for serious lacerations to her neck, according to reports.

A witness told the Manchester Evening News: "We saw a police van turn up in the car park.

“One of my colleagues was walking back. He saw a woman on the floor with a large slash across the throat.

“Police were with her at that point, more and more police turned up. They were running in and out of the Hilton Hotel."

In a statement, Greater Manchester Police said: "Four men, aged 20,24,26 and 26, a 20-year-old woman and a 17-year-old girl have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder."

"They are all in custody for questioning and enquiries are ongoing."
