A teenage boy was reportedly stabbed in the mouth following a mass brawl in Redhill town centre.
Surrey Police are investigating reports up to eight youths were involved in a fight on Monday afternoon close to a McDonald’s restaurant.
Eyewitnesses told the Surrey Mirror a teenager staggered into a taxi office and asked for a cab after he was stabbed in the mouth.
The newspaper reported the victim was taken to hospital but his condition remains unknown at this stage.
The youth was allegedly attacked in an alleyway that links the Marketfield Road car park with the High Street.
Pictures taken from the scene show blood splattered on the ground and a police cordon in place near the entrance to the Belfry shopping centre.
One female witness told the Surrey Mirror: “There was all this blood splattered all over the floor everywhere, including puddles of blood. The guy was spitting out blood like he was being sick."
A police spokeswoman said officers were called to the town centre just after 4pm to reports of a brawl involving a "large" group of youths but could not confirm witness statements a teenager was slashed in the mouth.
Surrey Police tweeted shortly before 5.30pm: "Large presence inc helicopter dealing with ongoing incident Redhill town centre."
A National Police Air Service spokeswoman confirmed a helicopter was sent to the scene at 4.20pm but it was not required for long.
