A publishing manager who filmed his female colleagues on the toilet using an iPod camera has walked free from court.

Robert Arthur Kelly, 52, hid the device under a cistern in the women's toilets at his office.

A woman was filmed using the toilet in one recording which was later found stored on his computer.

But when a maintenance repair man discovered the device in October 2012 and Kelly was subsequently arrested, he claimed he had installed it in order to catch someone who had defecated on the toilet floor.

Despite his defence, detectives found more voyeuristic images and videos on Kelly's computer which were taken at his office.

Kelly, of Manor Park, Richmond, later admitted six counts of voyeurism on May 27 this year during a trial at Woolwich Crown Court.

He was given a six month prison sentence suspended for two years, a one year supervision order and was put on the sex offenders register for seven years.

Detective constable Sarah Naisbitt, who led the investigation, said Kelly had "violated" his colleagues in a place where "they felt they were secure".

She said: "This was a complex investigation that involved detailed examination and evaluation of computer files, where crucial evidence was secured. I would like to thank all witnesses in this investigation; Kelly violated these women in their place of work where they felt they were secure and had no idea that images of such a discreet nature would be taken of them in this way."

She added: "I hope that they can take some consolation that he admitted the offence and as a result will have to sign on to the sex offenders register for a number of years. This type of intrusion is not acceptable and the Metropolitan Police will support all victims and pursue all suspects.”
