A young girl fought off a man who pulled up in a Mercedes and attempted to abduct her as she made her way to primary school.

Detectives today launched an appeal for information following allegations of the distressing incident in Neasden, north-west London, on Friday.

According to the Kilburn Times, the man pulled up in a five-door Mercedes and asked the girl a question, before driving off when she ignored him.

But when she walked past the car further up the road, the driver jumped out and tried to grab her.

She managed to hit him and run away from his grasp.

The pupil was walking in Brentfield Road on her way to nearby Mitchell Brook Primary School at about 8.25am on Friday.

The school sent a letter to all parents warning them about the incident, which left the girl shaken, though she was not injured.

A Metropolitan Police spokesman said: “Detectives and local officers are working with the school and parents have been made aware of the incident.

“Anyone with information that may assist police with their investigation should call police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”

The man was described as black, aged about 30 to 40, and wearing a black polo top with a logo on it.

No arrests have been made.
