Detectives pursuing allegations of historic sexual abuse at St Paul’s public school are investigating “six persons of interest” after receiving a number of new complaints, it emerged today.

Several former pupils have contacted police after revelations earlier this year that a former geography teacher at the school had been held in February on suspicion of child abuse.

Today it also emerged that a teacher at St Paul’s prep school, Colet Court, was arrested last year on suspicion of possessing indecent images of children.

Anthony Fuggle, 57, a classics teacher, resigned after his arrest in September. He has been released on bail and a file sent to the Crown Prosecution Service.

Detective Inspector Jon Rhodes told The Times the inquiry had developed into a “complex investigation with further victims, witnesses and suspects being identified on an almost daily basis”.

A school spokesman said all allegations of historic abuse were immediately forwarded to the police.
