Police are investigating after a London Underground passenger was subjected to an apparent racially-aggravated attack by possible football fans.
The assault took place on board a District Line train at Barking station on March 21, when West Ham played Sunderland at home.
British Transport Police said the 26-year-old victim was attacked by two men as the train pulled into the station.
He was helped from the carriage from members of the public as the two attackers fled the scene.
The man was taken to hospital suffering with cuts and bruises to his face.
BTP investigators have released images of two men they wish to speak to in connection with the incident.
Detective Constable Chris Neeson said: “We need to speak to them about what happened on board that train as we believe they have important information.
“We believe they are football supporters and may have been returning home from the day’s West Ham versus Sunderland game.
“If you recognise them, or witnessed the incident and have not yet spoken to the police, please get in touch.”
