Police today released these images of five men suspected of beating up two brothers who tried to defuse a row in the City.

The five were arguing with a cabbie when the brothers stepped in. Witnesses say one brother was knocked to the ground and lost consciousness while the gang continued to attack him.

He suffered a broken nose, eye socket and cheekbone, and needed 30 stitches to deep facial cuts. He still has vertigo. The second brother was cut and bruised.

Police have been unable to identify any of the men but CCTV shows them at Liverpool Street main line station soon after the incident at 11pm on 16 December in Fen Court, off Fenchurch Street.

Anyone with information should call police on 020 7601 2222 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
