Journalists and members of the public watching the Oscar Pistorius murder trial in a court “overspill” room were warned today over “unruly behaviour”.

Judge Thokozile Masipa said that they climbed over benches and “cheer, boo and do what they like”. She told the court: “This room is not an entertainment place or a picnic nest. It is an extension of this court and you must behave as well as the people in here do.”

She said that anyone behaving inappropriately would be removed by security staff.

In court, prosecutor Gerrie Nel said the sequence of events suggested by forensic scientist Roger Dixon, the defence’s expert witness, did not correspond to photographs of the scene at the athlete’s house. Mr Nel told him: “It is highly improbable. It is impossible, sir.”

However, Mr Dixon said: “I stand by my findings.”

The defence is hoping to prove that neighbours who said they heard shots after a woman screamed in fact heard Pistorius screaming and smashing in the door after realising he had shot his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp.

Pistorius denies murder.

The trial continues.
