A murder investigation has been launched after a man was stabbed to death in a rush hour attack near a Tube station.

Police said a man in his 20s was pronounced dead at the scene after the knife attack in Kendor Gardens near Morden Tube station just after 8am today.

Officers appealed for rush hour commuters who may have witnessed the attack to contact them.

Detective Chief Inspector Dave Reid said: "The stabbing occurred during the rush hour period and there would have been a number of people in the vicinity making their way to the train station.

"I am appealing for anyone who may have seen the stabbing or the events leading up to the incident to get in contact with us."

The victim's next of kin have yet to be informed and there have been no arrests.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
