This is the hair-raising moment a cyclist tries to get to Heathrow Airport by pedaling the wrong way along the M25.

The man was first spotted by police brazenly cycling along the hard shoulder between junctions 11 and 13.

After being stopped and told to take a more sensible route, he re-appeared moments later on a motorway slip road.

Footage shows the biker at one point appearing to ride done the centre of the road, heading in the direction of Heathrow.

The cyclist, a man in his 30’s from Feltham, was fined £50 for breaking motorway regulations and taken to a safe location.

Highways England Operations Manager, Martin Crosswell, said: "The actions of this man were irresponsible and could have caused a serious incident."

Responding officer PC Tom Richardson from Surrey Police said: "As well as cycling along an extremely busy motorway during the rush hour traffic the cyclist would have also crossed motorway slip roads so it is extremely fortunate that there was not a more serious outcome to his trip.”
