A man has been jailed for stabbing a rival in the head with a screw driver as they took part in the filming of a music video along a busy London street.
Akeem Badmus, 31, Southampton Way, Peckham was jailed for ten years after admitting he was part of a part of a gang that attacked the victim in Tabard Street, Borough, on March 1 2012.
The mob plunged the weapon into the 20-year-old victim’s head with such force that it embedded 13cm into his brain.
Southwark Crown Court heard how the pair met during the filming of a music video and a row erupted over the non-payment of a minor drugs debt.
The court also heard how the victim is still recovering following the incident and is likely to suffer the effects of the attack for the rest of his life.
Mr Badmus pleaded guilty to GBH and was jailed for ten years.
Detective Inspector Dave Reid, of the Homicide and Serious Crime Command, said: “This was a savage attack that left a young man on the verge of death, and he may never fully recover.
I trust that the lengthy sentence imposed by the court today will provide some consolation to the victim and his family.”
