A man is fighting for his life in hospital after being knocked down by a car in south east London.
The 23-year-old man, named on social media as Kieran Daly, is in a critical condition after he was hit on St Pauls Cray Road, Orpington, at about 2.20am on Sunday.
Detectives investigating the crash today said they were treating it as a hit and run incident.
Sharing a police appeal for information, one friend wrote: "Keep staying strong ! Kieran daly - we love you let's keep positive".
The driver of a black Ford Fiesta believed to have been involved in the collision failed to stop at the scene, Scotland Yard said.
Police believe the car will have suffered "significant damage" to its front passenger side.
They are appealing to any mechanics who may have been asked to repair a vehicle matching the car's description or dealers who have been asked for relevant car parts since Sunday.
Detective Sergeant Matt Austin, who is leading the investigation on behalf of the Met's Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: "The victim has been left with life threatening injuries as a result of this incident. We're determined to identify and find the person responsible and we're asking the public for their help in tracing this vehicle."
