Police today released CCTV images of a man wanted over a suspected "acid" attack on a train in north London.
Detectives took the step after the "terrifying and unprovoked" attack left a female commuter and a ticket inspector needing hospital treatment.
The incident happened on a London Overground train as it reached South Tottenham station at around 8pm last Wednesday.
It is believed the attack followed a row over fares. Passengers rushed to the victims' aid by pouring water over them after the as yet unknown substance was thrown from a bottel.
The victims - a 33-year-old man and a 48-year-old woman, both from London - were later released from hospital after being treated.
PC Ian Hockridge, who is leading the police investigation, said: “This was a terrifying and unprovoked attack which left both victims understandably very concerned for their safety.
"We have isolated some CCTV stills of a man we believe will have information which can help the investigation and we are now calling on members of the public to help us identify him."
He added: "We believe he boarded the train at Woodgrange Park station and left the train at South Tottenham on a silver mountain bike."
