Four men have been found guilty of murder after a 25-year-old was shot dead while leaving a children's birthday party in north London.

Kacey Boothe was killed in gunfire in Forest Rise, Walthamstow, on August 13 last year, as he left a celebration at the Peterhouse Community Centre.

Police were called around 9.20pm and arrived to find Mr Boothe had already been taken to hospital, where he later died.

Ka’mani Brightly-Donaldson, Kammar Henry-Richards, Joao Pateco-te and Jeffrey Gyimah were this week found guilty of his murder, following a 10-week trial at the Old Bailey.

They were also convicted of conspiracy to murder another man, and conspiracy to possess a firearm with intent to endanger life.

Police tracked down Mr Boothe's killers by trawling hours of CCTV footage and speaking to eyewitnesses, which revealed the shooter had left the scene in a stolen car.

Officers raided multiple addresses in north London, and arrested six people.

They found Mr Boothe and his killers were linked to rival gangs in north London, and had already been involved in a number of violent incidents.

Scotland Yard said it believes Mr Boothe had not, however, been the intended target of the shooting, and that the killers had instead been intending to kill another man.

The four found guilty of his murder this week are Brightly-Donaldson, 24, of High Street, Ponders End; Henry-Richards, 25, of Cambrian Road, Leyton; Gyimah, 22, of Queensbridge Road, Hackney; and Pateco-te, 27, of Chelmer Road in Hackney.

A fifth man, 26-year-old Roody Thomas, of Berger Road in Homerton, previously pleaded guilty to possession of a firearm in connection with the shooting.

They will all be sentenced at the same court next month, on a date that is yet to be confirmed.

The jury failed to reach a verdict in relation to a sixth man, who will face a re-trial in due course.

Detective Chief Inspector Larry Smith, whose team carried out the investigation, said: “I am pleased to see these men held responsible for their actions and hope this serves as a warning to other people who involve themselves in gang related violence, that we will take robust action.

“Ultimately, a family have lost their loved one and for this my thoughts remain with Kacey’s family and friends at this time. I hope today’s verdict will help them to move forward.”

He praised his officers for their "tenacious and dedicated investigation, trawling through hours of CCTV, analysing mobile phones and speaking with a number of witnesses to piece together the exact movements of these individuals prior to this deadly attack".
