Police are hunting a man after a 14-year-old girl was sexually assaulted while travelling on the Tube through east London.

The teenager was attacked on a westbound District Line train between Elm Park and West Ham, police say.

After she was assaulted, her attacker got off at Canning Town.

British Transport Police have now released CCTV images of a man they want to trace over the October 1 incident, which took place between 2.20pm and 2.30pm.

Investigating officer, PC Ben Martin-Richmond, said: “Everyone should be free to travel on the railway and underground without fear of unwanted sexual behaviour.

“I would like to commend the victim for reporting this distressing incident to police, and to reassure the public that an investigation is underway to identify the offender.”

Anyone with information should contact police on 0800 40 50 40, text 61016 quoting reference number 323 07/12/16, or phone Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
