Gang police are investigating after a young man was shot in south London.

Police were called at about 8.40pm on Friday after the vicitm, a man in his 20s, had already been admitted to hospital with a bullet wound to his leg.

Scotland Yard launched an appeal for witnesses and said the Trident and Area Crime Command was investigating.

The victim said the incident happened in Brenchley Gardens, in Forest Hill, at about 8.25pm on Friday, police said

A Scotland Yard spokesman said: "The victim, aged in his 20s, said that he had received the injury after a firearm was discharged in Brenchley Gardens."

No arrests have been made.
