A murder probe is under way after a man was stabbed to death in a south-east London flat on Tuesday night.

Police found the victim, 34, in Lincoln Road, Erith, at about 10.10pm.

Medics battled to save him but he was pronounced dead less than an hour later.

A second man, 42, was on Wednesday morning being treated for a head injury.

Neighbours told the News Shopper the scene outside Appleton House had been “mayhem”.

“I watched the police tell the girlfriend that he had passed away,” one said.

“She was in a bad way - screaming, crying and throwing up.

“It was total mayhem out there.”

The paper identified the dead man as a father-of-three.

No one has been arrested over the man’s death. Det Ch Insp Graeme Gwyn of the Met’s homicide and major crime command has urged anyone with information to call 020 8721 4805 or phone Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
