A young man from east London will appear in court on Wednesday charged with seven terror offences, including supporting Isis and encouraging people to commit terrorist acts.

Mohammed Mohsin Ameen, 23, was arrested by the Met’s counter terrorism command on Wednesday last week as police raided a pair of houses.

He was held for six days after officers invoked special rules allowing terror suspects to be questioned for longer than two days, which is the usual period of time after which a person must be released or charged.

A spokesman said: "Officers applied for a warrant of further detention on Thursday, September 22, which was granted by Westminster Magistrates' Court, giving authority to detain the man up until the morning of Wednesday, September 28."

Ameen was charged on Tuesday night with six counts of directly or indirectly encouraging others to commit, prepare or instigate acts of terrorism, and one count of inviting support for Isis.

He has been remanded in custody and will appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court tomorrow.
