Deptford stabbing: 16-year-old boy fighting for life in hospital after attack outside council estate

A teenage boy is fighting for his life in hospital after he was stabbed repeatedly in south-east London.

The 16-year-old was rushed to hospital after police were called to a council estate in Payne Street, Deptford shortly after midnight.

His condition is said to be “critical” after he was found suffering with stab wounds.

A cordon has been put in place outside surrounding homes and businesses with forensic investigators spotted at the scene.

One man, who did not want to be named, said: “When I arrived for work the road was shut off and police were carrying out a search of the area.”

A Met spokeswoman said no arrests have been made as enquiries continue.

Police in Lewisham remain at the scene and are investigating.
