David Beckham could face court for allegedly using his mobile phone while driving just months after a speeding fine against him was dismissed in court.
A member of the public reported the 43-year-old former England star to police and claimed he was making a call on his phone while driving in London in November.
A Met Police spokesman said: “An allegation was made by a member of the public to the Met that on 21 November 2018 they saw a 43-year-old man on his mobile phone while driving his car in the area of Great Portland Street, W1.
“The 43-year-old man has been sent a notice of intended prosecution.”
The Sun reports CCTV footage of the alleged incident has been obtained.
The newspaper said he was driving his £160,000 Bentley at the time.
The former England captain was accused of breaking the 40mph speed limit while driving along the A40 in west London last year. He was represented by celebrity lawyer Nick 'Mr Loophole' Freeman who successfully had the charge dismissed.
Beckham’s latest case is set to go before Bromley magistrates in South London on March 19 as a paper hearing.
He has the option of admitting the alleged offence by letter or contesting the charge at a public hearing.
