A female commuter was slapped in the face by a fellow passenger after she asked him to turn down a video which was playing on his phone.
The 54-year-old woman was travelling on the Northern Line southbound between Camden Town and London Bridge on April 28 when she sat down next to the man, police said.
She asked the man, who was dressed in a formal suit, to turn down the volume on a video he was watching on his mobile phone.
An argument broke out and the man lashed out by slapping the woman on her face in front of passengers packed inside the busy tube carriage,according to police.
Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward with information about the attack which took place at around 7.20pm.
PC Matthew Kaye, of BTP’s London Underground policing team, said: “This was a very unsettling experience for the victim and we are working hard to catch the man responsible.
“There were a number of other passengers in the carriage at the time and I would urge them to come forward as they might have crucial evidence which could assist our investigation.”
The suspect, believed to be in his 40s, is described as black, of stocky build and with a shaved head. He was wearing a black suit, red stripy shirt, glasses and was carrying a brown briefcase.
