A sex attacker savagely and repeatedly raped a woman after tailing her through the streets of north London and trying to strangle her, a court heard.
Ramon Pinto, 30, was caged for 14 years after being convicted of three counts of rape, two counts of assault by penetration, attempted strangulation and actual bodily harm.
He was also convicted of possessing class A and class B drugs.
The court heard how Pinto preyed on the woman after spotting her alone in the early hours of June 6.
He followed her into a cul-de-sac in Colindale, Barnet, before viciously attacking her.
“Pinto told his victim he would kill her if she contacted police,” said a Met spokesman, “but the victim had the courage to come forward.
“Detectives swiftly linked Pinto to the crime by DNA evidence and detailed enquires uncovered further evidence that he was in the area.”
Pinto was arrested and charged days after the attack.
Det Const Sonny Bhamrah said: “The victim in this case should be commended for her bravery in having the courage to report her ordeal.
“This was a predatory attack by Pinto and he has rightly been sentenced to a long term in prison for a vicious crime.
“Pinto left the victim injured and traumatised and told his victim he would kill her if she went to the police.”
Det Const Bhamrah also praised the efforts of medics and the CPS in bringing Pinto to justice.
