A 17-year-old boy has been charged with raping a woman in her fifties in a Kingston church yard.

The Metropolitan Police has said the incident happened in Market Place and they received a call on Saturday morning.

The suspect has been charged with with one count of rape, one count of robbery, one count of possession of a Class B drug and two counts of fraud.

The boy was charged on Thursday and is expected to appear at Stratford Magistrates' Court on the same day.

It is thought the churchyard could be connected to All Saints Church - a Norman structure that dates back to 1120 and is the only grade I listed building in Kingston.

Neither the boy charged nor the alleged victim can be named for legal reasons.
