Light up the Twenties in Knightsbridge

P69The Wellesley
5 November 2012

London’s pre-Olympics hotel opening rush is continuing post-Games. The next in line is the Wellesley, which is opening in Knightsbridge on December 4. The 1920s townhouse has been renovated into a 36-room and suite hotel staying true to its roots with the help of designers Fox Linton (Carlisle Bay, Cowarth Park) creating sumptuous art deco-inspired interiors.

The Wellesley will also be a hit for cigar lovers, with a distinctly un-PC throwback to the heady days of jazz with its cigar lounge and humidor, selling its own brand made in Cuba. An outside heated cigar terrace will keep fans puffing through the cold days of winter.

Keeping the step-back-in-time feel going will be the Crystal Bar, furnished with authentic 1920s pieces, and the Jazz Room with grand piano and showcasing existing and up-and-coming acts.

Doubles from £395 room only (introductory rate available until March 2013), thewellesley.co.uk
