The best jobs for work-life balance in the UK

Earlier this week, the World Health Organisation named ‘burnout’ among its International Classification of Diseases which means it will be recognised as a medical condition from next year.

Burnout can often occur when your work-life balance is out of whack, which is why job site Glassdoor has revealed the best jobs for work-life balance in the UK.

The site says having good work-life balance is one of the most important aspects of a job for candidates, ahead of career opportunities and work perks.

To find the jobs with the best work-life balance, Glassdoor used data from its Best Jobs in the UK report 2019 to see which jobs had the best work-life rating.

Below are the UK jobs that offer the best work-life balance. Scores are rated out of five.

1. Sales Development Representative

Work-life balance rating: 4.6

2. Research Fellow

Work-life balance rating: 4.6

Median base salary: £34,000

3. Customer Success Manager

Work-life balance rating: 4.5

4. Marketing Assistant

Work-life balance rating: 4.4

Sales Development Representatives took the top spot with a 4.6/5 work-life balance rating, closely followed by Research Fellow also with a 4.6 rating and a Customer Success Manager with a 4.5 rating.

Glassdoor Economic Research Analyst, Amanda Stansell, said in a statement: “Not everyone prioritises money, so if you are looking for a job offering a good work-life balance then these roles definitely stand out.

"However, many of them also offer well above average salaries for the UK, proving it is possible to find a job that pays good money yet doesn’t take over your life.”
