55 amazing photographs of Crufts dog show through the years

The most important date in the canine calendar is fast approaching
1/59

Adorable pooches from across the country will arrive in the capital this week as the world’s greatest dog show gets underway for another year.

Yes, Crufts is back - along with hundreds or dogs, doting owners and suitcase upon suitcase of grooming products.

It was in 1891 that the first Cruft's show was booked into the Royal Agricultural Hall in Islington, and this year, the show will be celebrating it’s 126th birthday.

For over a century, dogs have been primped, preened and paraded in front of a judging while they pull their best ‘yes, I am a good boy’ face in the hopes of securing that all-important Best In Show title.

Last year Devon, a West Highland terrier claimed the top prize at the dog show - a feat that the breed hadn't achieved for 26 years.

The event officially kicks off this Thursday, 9 March, but in the meantime, why not take a look through these pictures of how Crufts has changed through the years, as well as some of the cutest pups that have ever competed.
