Bright young thing: Gucci in Milan
10 April 2012

Gucci unveiled a collection for next season that has bucketloads of sex appeal.

The show in Milan conjured up images of Egyptian queens and the bustling streets of downtown Marrakech. The eveningwear — with its regal colour palette of rich purple, terracotta and dazzling iris-blue — was the high point.

A series of silk dresses, with panels of clashing hues, were elegantly wrapped at the neckline and twisted at the waist to expose flashes of flesh.

A divine series of dresses — destined for magazine covers and red carpets — included thigh-high cocktail gowns featuring silk tassel fringing and pelmets made of feathers.

Linen and leather creations in muted sand-coloured shades ensured it was a well-rounded and sellable collection by a designer, Frida Giannini, who can deliver creativity and sex-appeal in equal measure.
