From a white tee and jeans to an LBD with a red lip, some of life’s greatest outfit formulas are also the simplest.

Those baulking at the prospect of finally actually getting properly dressed again will be pleased to hear summer 2020 has proffered another straightforward yet stellar pairing: the oversized, manly shirt and its new best friend; the denim mini.

Not only is this marriage of micro mini and maxi shirting at once fashion forward and simultaneously ultra low key, but the very quotidian nature of its composite parts means there’s every chance you have at least 50 per cent of the ensemble already lurking at the back of your wardrobe.

Mannish shirts are big news for summer 2020 and, paired with a micro mini and chic slip on sandals, they just look cooler than cool.

In fact, so unquestionably feel good is the combo that country singing legend Shania Twain made reference to the outfit formula in her 1997 track Man! I Feel Like A Woman. Need a refresher? “Go totally crazy, forget I’m a lady, men’s shirts, short skirts, oh oh oohh, really go wild yeah, doing it in style”

Frankly, if it’s good enough for Shania, it’s good enough for me.
