Woman's body found by golf course

12 April 2012

Police are probing the discovery of a partly-clothed woman's body just yards from a golf course.

Detectives were called after a passerby stumbled on the woman, thought to be in her 20s, at Aldborough Hatch Farm, near Fairlop golf course in Ilford. The body, found shortly after 1pm today, is believed to have been there for some time.

Police forensic teams sealed off the area and began searching for clues to the death.

A Metropolitan Police spokesman said the woman had not yet been identified, adding: "We treating this as a major inquiry."

A post-mortem examination will be conducted to establish the cause of death.
