Wellington reprieve after St Peter's are expelled

12 April 2012

Wellington are not out of the Daily Mail U18s Cup after all, despite losing their quarter-final match 12-10 against St Peter's of Gloucester.

The Berkshire side survive after the England School union expelled St Peter's for using too many players brought in at sixth form.

Now Wellington, fifth in the Standard Super 1st XV league with 18 wins out of 20, meet RGS Newcastle for a place in this year's semis against holders Warwick.

In the other tie, Standard team of the month St Benedict's play Barnard Castle for a place at Twickenham.

RGS High Wycombe will feel unlucky. They went out in the last 16 against St Peter's despite further irregularities with the Gloucester side's team-sheet.
