Watch this space: Branson's out of this world experience

Taking off: Richard Branson's spaceport
12 April 2012

Sir Richard Branson has officially opened the world's first commercial spaceport.

Virgin Galactic will stage its commercial space tourism venture from Spaceport America in a remote patch of desert in southern New Mexico - with enough test flights planned for 2012 to start passenger flights soon after.

The impressive space terminal rises from the desert floor to face the two-mile concrete runway the aircraft will need to jet into space.

Sir Richard said: "The building is absolutely magnificent. It is literally out of this world."
