Thin White Duke gives band a helping hand

Wowed: David Bowie is to allow an unsigned band to use his website to release a cover of one of his own songs.

David Bowie is to let an unsigned London band use his website to release a cover version of one of his own songs.

The singer, pictured, was wowed by the distinctive version of Slow Burn by Films of Colour when it was played to him by producer Tony Visconti.

Visconti, who had produced Bowie's big hits Heroes and Scary Monsters, flew to see the band from his home in America after hearing the track online and has now offered to produce its debut album in Texas next year.

Lead singer Andy Clutterbuck, 23, of east London, said: "We've heard that Bowie thinks it's great, which is really inspiring."

Slow Burn will be available free for a week at www.davidbowie.com and later released on the band's website.
