Teenage girl 'snatched from street by two men and raped'

Police are investigating claims that a 14-year-old girl was snatched from a street in north-west London and raped twice by two men.

The girl says she was abducted as she walked to see a friend in Cricklewood early yesterday. She told police she was bundled into a car and driven to a park in Hendon.

The victim was sexually assaulted before being driven to a flat in the Vauxhall Bridge area where she was attacked a second time.

The teenager, described as "vulnerable" by police, was reported missing by her parents at 9am yesterday though it is not clear how long she had been gone from her home.

Police say it is not clear exactly where she was assaulted and are examining a number of possible sites. A white tent has been erected to protect possible forensic evidence at one possible location at Basing Hill Park.

The victim says she was let go by the two men after being taken to a flat near Vauxhall Bridge and raped for a second time. She is understood to have called police from the street.

Detectives from Barnet's Sapphire investigation team, which deals with sex attacks, appealed for any possible information. They were waiting to interview the girl in detail this afternoon. Police say it appears that the girl was picked up at random from the street.
