Talent mother cleared of dumping fanmail

12 April 2012

The mother of Britain's Got Talent winner George Sampson was cleared today of flytipping rubbish that included his fanmail.

Lesley Sampson, 40, said he son "keeps and treasures" every fan letter after she walked free from court.

The mother-of-five was accused of ditching bin bags behind her home in Warrington, where fans of the 2008 winner of Britain's Got Talent regularly sent post.

Ms Sampson said outside Chester crown court: "I am delighted this case is finally over. George keeps and treasures every fan letter he receives. I can only assume those letters have been taken from my property by persons unknown while it was empty and being renovated.

"I have at no point in time dumped any rubbish outside my property and neither has anybody else on my behalf."
