Sanctuary buys Air-Edel

AIR-EDEL, the company that owns the rights to music ranging from Charlotte Church's Dream A Dream to the Asda price jingle, has been sold for £1.2m to Sanctuary, the record label best-known for heavy metal acts.

Air-Edel, founded more than 30 years ago by Beatles producer Sir George Martin and Herman Edel, represents 40 artistes whose credits include the music for the films The Full Monty and Bridget Jones' Diary as well as TV programmes such as Inspector Morse.

The company has studios off Baker Street in London and offices in Los Angeles. It is only one of Martin's many companies.
