Runner finishes on Friday

12 April 2012

Marathon runner Lloyd Scott isn't going to come near the fastest time for completing the Marathon and he doesn't care. He's going for the slowest ever London Marathon time. Yup, he's still running now!

Lloyd is running the Flora London Marathon in anantique deep sea diving suit in aid of CLIC (Cancer & Leukaemia in Childhood). The diving suit weighs a massive 120lbs, with each lead boot weighing 22lbs so he's not moving anywhere quickly. The fanatical fundraiser, who has already totted up in excess of £1 million for charities, started the race on Sunday with the rest of the runners and will run (or stagger) approx. 4.8 miles a day until he finishes on Friday around 6.20pm!

Lloyd has himself suffered from leukaemia and has only recently had an artificial hip fitted, so this challenge is proof not only to himself but to others that there is life after the disease.

Any encouragement you can give Lloyd as he makes his way along the course (he'll be sticking to the official route) will be greatly appreciated, as will any donations. Lloyd wants to raise at least £100,000 to help the 10,000 children under treatment for cancer and leukaemia in the UK at any one time. Donations can be made by sending cheques made out to CLIC, to Lloyd's London Marathon, CLIC, PO Box 224, Rainham, Essex RM13 8LR or credit card donations can be made by calling CLIC's Head Office on 0845 301 0031 or via www.clic.uk.com
