Robber fought off with till

A robber armed with a hatchet was forced to run for it today when a female shopkeeper hit him over the head with the drawer of her till.

The man walked into a shop in Coopersale, near Epping, at 5.30am and threatened staff. But the woman behind the till refused to hand over the cash and fought back with the drawer. The robber fled.
