RAM on mark with football awards

ARSENAL striker Thierry Henry could get another trophy after world footballers' representative body FIFPro signed a deal with RAM Investment to stage and televise a major new ceremony.

RAM is paying €400,000 (£276,000) a year for five years for the London event from next September.

FIFPro, led by Gordon Taylor of the Professional Footballers Association, will collect votes from 38,000 players covered by its 40 country members around the world.

It will make awards to four defenders, four midfielders, two forwards, a goalkeeper and overall world player of the year.

RAM, the former Magnum Power which has turned into a property and leisure dealmaker under Nick Lebetkin and Laurence Selman, who each hold 30%, has outsourced production and televising to Celador, maker of Who Wants to be a Millionaire?
