Pop idol Will Young and finalist Gareth Gates continued their success in public votes after scooping three National Music Awards.


Gates won favourite TV music performance and favourite male singer, while Young won favourite album with From Now On in the ceremony decided by only public telephone votes.

The Cheeky Girls, who also achieved fame through television talent shows, won favourite novelty song for The Cheeky Song (Touch My Bum).

Kylie Minogue was favourite international artist, Andrea Bocelli was favourite specialist performer, while Eminem's Lose Yourself won favourite song from a feature film.

Ant & Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway won favourite TV theme, Rachel Stevens won favourite UK female singer, Coldplay was favourite UK band and Busted was favourite newcomer.

Husan won favourite music featured in a TV commercial, for Bhangra Knights vs Hasan from the Peugeot 206 campaign, while Shirley Bassey claimed a lifetime achievement award at the ceremony held in Hammersmith, west London.
